CASES WE HAVE WON:
STATE V. PURCIFUL:
Mr. Rafael Villegas was in Champaign County yesterday representing our client who had a warrant out for arrest for over 15 years.
After coming into the courthouse to turn himself in, the client was able to walk out with Mr. Villegas by his side with simply a fine, no probation, and no license suspension.
STATE V. HERR:
Mr. Herr was sentenced to serve five (5) days of jail time on a charge of OVI. Herr was scheduled to begin serving his sentence on March 5, 2018. During this period of time, Mr. Herr was a young man, twenty-two years of age who never imagined himself going to jail and did not know how to responsibly handle that fear and uncertainty. As a result, Mr. Herr did not appear to serve out his sentence, leading to the warrant out on his behalf. After relentless efforts of Attorney Rafael Villegas Mr. Herr came to court with him and turned himself in 4 years later. Herr spent only five days in jail with no additional time for failing to appear.
STATE V. CRANFORD
Mr. Cranford was scheduled to appear in the Champaign Municipal Court on December 1, 2020, for his traffic violation charge issued on November 27, 2020 of DUS and OVI. At the time of the incident, Mr. Crawford was residing in the State of Washington and was not aware of a warrant being issued in his name. Mr. Cranford had not become aware of this warrant until this year of 2023 and had immediately taken the initiative to retain Attorney Rafael Villegas. All jail time was suspended and Mr. Cranford was able to keep his license in the state of Washington.
